Destin, FL, also known as "World's Luckiest Fishing Village!", has the largest fishing fleet in the state of Florida. The highlight of each year is the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo held throughout the month of October. The Rodeo begins the first full weekend of October with the Destin Seafood Festival - originally started by the wives of the fishermen.
In addition to free fishing on our freshwater lake, one can partake in a variety of fishing and boating activities while staying at South Bay Destin:
- Deep sea bottom fishing (for red snapper, grouper, triggerfish, scamp and amberjack);
- Trolling from charter boats near the coast (for cobia, blackfin tuna, king mackerel, bluefish, barracuda and Spanish mackerel);
- Far offshore trolling (for white and blue marlin, wahoo and sailfish);
- Charter and party boating (from six to over 100 people)
- Wind surfing
- Jet skis
The Destin Fishing Fleet is located behind the Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant, 1/2 mile east of the Destin Bridge.
